PARADISE GETAWAY: FIJI ISLANDS
Over the Christmas and New Years break, I went on holiday to Fiji. What a beautiful country with palm trees and greenery everywhere you look. I was on Fiji time and it was very relaxing! Hanging by the pool, hiking up to a waterfall, catching a boat to a remote island, drinking cocktails and trying the local food. The people in Fiji are very friendly and welcoming! I stayed at a villa called Shambala and The Hideaway Resort, both located on the coral coast. Spending Christmas in a different country isn't new to me, but at the same time, it always feels different from a classic hot Australian summer Christmas.
New Year's eve was spent watching the fireworks at the Hideaway Resort and drinking cocktails! Will put photos in below. Absolutely loved Fiji and would go back there in a heartbeat. This was the first trip that I got to test out my Nikon D3400 DSLR camera. It takes amazing quality photos! Went down to the beach when it was very low tide and it was amazing to see what things are in the ocean that you can't normally see! Spotted a blue starfish and Fiji's black and white poisonous Banded Sea Krait! Fiji sunsets didn't disappoint, there were so many days that the sky light up and so many pretty colours mixing in the sky!....
New Years Eve!!!!!! The Hideaway Resort put on an amazing fireworks display!! The night was spent celebrating and drinking cocktails and New Year's day was a relaxing rest day, hanging by the pool at Shambala. Check out my firework action shots below! After the fireworks stopped, words appeared on the beach as they lit a sign saying WELCOME 2018 (Picture below). Was a great bang to the start of the year!!!!......
We went on a day trip Captain Cook Tivua Island Cruise, the cruise ship looked like it was out of Pirates of the Caribbean (photo below). The ship took us on approx. 40 min boat ride to a small island called Tivua Island!!! Before we got to the island... we passed the island where castaway was filmed!! It looked a little bigger then the island we went to. Once on the island you can do any activity you want, kayaking, snorkelling, swimming, take a casual ride on the glass bottom boat and see the amazing coral and sea life! Captain Cook Cruises provided lunch and unlimited drinks, which included in the cruise price. Was such an amazing day filled with snorkelling, drinking, eating and enjoying the sun. They also offer scuba diving at a price and you can see heaps more of the sea life......
Was such an amazing trip and would recommend everyone go to FIJI. It is different to Bali, more of a relaxed Fiji time vibe. Everything is slower and food comes out slower as well. But it was all part of the experience! Was fun taking time to relax but also doing some activities and seeing new places!!
