Australia is an amazing country and I am so happy that I get to call it home! I live in Sydney, but when I get the chance I like to travel to other destinations in Australia. Every place that I go to makes me love Australia even more!

Recently I went on a girls trip to Byron Bay, NSW. Some of us hadn't been back since schoolies, so it was nice to see more of Byron than last time. We spent the long weekend exploring beaches, keeping watch at the lighthouse and eating at cute cafes and restaurants. I see why people love Byron so much, it is one of my favourite places in Australia.

WHERE TO STAY

Airbnb - Tropical Byron Bay Garden Suite

We booked an Airbnb for the weekend and it was great for the four of us. It is only a short drive into town, where there are plenty of shops, restaurants and Main Beach! The General Store is a short walk away, which is a great spot for breakfast!!

This Airbnb would be a great place to stay in during the summer, as it has an outdoor garden and is not too far out of town. There are also plenty of other Airbnb's to choose from if you are after a place closer to the beach or somewhere with more space.

WHERE TO EAT

TOP SHOP

Top Shop is the perfect spot for breakfast, lunch or a quick snack. They offer yummy food from burgers to sandwiches, fresh pastries and muffins, a great selection of meals to choose from for breakfast and of course my fav! acai bowls.

The cafe has a real Byron Bay feel to it, with a relaxed vibe and people sitting on the grass out the front enjoying the sun. The staff are friendly and the food is the best!!

I highly recommend the fish burger, with crumbed local snapper, house tartare and salad. I also recommend trying one of their cold-pressed juices as they are really yummy! I had the Oj, Carrot + Tumeric.

THE GENERAL STORE

I was looking on Instagram to see where the best places are to eat in Byron and found The General Store. It is a great spot for brekky and has some delicious meals to choose from. It is a really cute cafe with plenty of vegan options and cute decor. I recommend going here for brekky as all the options sounded yummy.

THE FARM

Located in Byron Bay is a working farm called the Farm, that represents an ethically sustainable and healthy way of living. There are pigs, horses, cows and chickens all roaming free in beautiful pastures. It is a great spot for lunch or just to walk around and see all the cute animals, plants, crops and beautiful scenery.

The restaurant at the farm is called the Three Blue Ducks. You can sit and enjoy a meal or grab a light snack and find a spot somewhere on the farm to eat. The takeaway menu offers sandwiches, pies, sweets and other snacks from the bakery.

THINGS TO DO

BYRON’S BEACHES

You can't go to Byron Bay without visiting one of the beaches. Byron has some of the best beaches for surfing. With white sand, blue water and plenty of good vibes, it really is the ultimate place for a weekend getaway.

The best beaches are Main Beach, The Pass, Wategos Beach, Clarkes Beach & Tallows Beach. If you are interested in a beach walk, then I suggest walking from Main Beach to The Pass.

SUNSET AT CAPE BYRON LIGHTHOUSE

The best spot to watch the sunset is at Cape Byron Lighthouse. I recommend taking the coastal walkway, as it has the best views. We spotted whales, turtles, dolphins and stingrays within a few minutes of each other!

The lighthouse was built in 1901 and is located on the easternmost point of mainland Australia. You can take a short guided tour to the top of the lighthouse, I recommend doing this as the 360 views are breathtaking.
